At DP Guitarworks, we offer a wide range of repair services for Guitars as well as custom crafted acoustic and electric guitars made to order. Whether you need a simple setup-up, complete overhaul or a brand new build, we've got you covered.
I have been playing and working on guitars for over 40 years. After retiring from an occupational consulting business a few years ago, I decided to turn my passion with guitars from a hobby into a business. I have my temperature and humidity controlled shop in beautiful Oak Island NC.
I currently offer two styles of custom, made to order guitars. An Orchestra Model (OM) and a Dreadnought (DT). The OM is a smaller body guitar that brings out the top end more than the slightly larger DT. The DT being larger, tends to have more bass and projection. Both guitars can be built to order with a wide range of back, side and tops woods.
Most guitars need a periodic inspection and adjustments. A acoustic guitar setup can adjust for changes in the guitar that affect playability and functionality. New guitars come from the factory with generic speciations that will need to be adjusted for individual players.
The basic acoustic setup includes:
This service would be for a brand new 6 string nut, shaped, slotted and adjusted for the guitar.
This service would be for a brand new 12 string nut, shaped, slotted and adjusted for the guitar.
The saddle sits on the bridge of the guitar and needs to match the radius of the neck and adjusted for a proper, comfortable playing action. A saddle that is too low results in the strings touching the frets or buzzing when playing. A bridge that is too high or that has the wrong radius will make the guitar harder to play.

This repair is for cracks through the top of back that do not have any gaps that would require additional wood glued in. This is meant to stabilize the crack by placing cleats inside the guitar across the crack to close it in and prevent further cracking. The crack outline may still be visible, and refinishing the area around the crack is not included in the cost.
